‘Hello Summer!’ introduced the audience to a kaleidoscope of colours in paintings that are representational as well as abstract and executed with great technical skill where the artist’s imagination also comes to the fore. Anna Galea, a prolific Maltese artist, always has something new to offer. This collection of watercolours offers merriment and relaxation for the viewer: just what most of us needed in what we may, with great optimism, call a post-Covid-19 world. These watercolours are, in fact, very much in line with Anna Galea’s spirit and jovial character. The paintings in watercolour are iridescent and translucent, showing off the artist’s mastery of the watercolour medium which she has acquired over the years, and it is no wonder that she is often invited by the International Watercolour Society (IWS) to demonstrate her technique to fellow artists the latest being a festival that the IWS organised in Izmir (Turkey) in May 2022 and has participated in the Deput Watercolour Festival in Qingdao (China) in August 2023.
