The Phoenicia Malta 75 year anniversary exhibition

The Phoenicia Malta, the island’s first 5-star hotel, celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2022. An exhibition was set up to commemorate this milestone in the hotel’s history, one that consisted of historic photographs as well as the original plans and drawings by Scottish Architect William Binnie. The hotel’s construction commenced in the 1930s initiated by Lady Margaret Strickland, however works were only fully completed after the Second World War, with the hotel welcoming its first guests on 3rd November 1947. The exhibition was therefore held in November 2022 and was one of a number of events held throughout the year.
