The exhibition Jestem by Ivan Grixti invites visitors on a visual and emotional journey through landscapes that bridge two distinct worlds: Poland and Malta. The title, meaning “I am” in Polish, reflects the artist’s profound connection to the places he paints. Having lived in Poland for many years, Grixti returns to Malta to share his artistic evolution and the significance of being present in the moment and environment.

Through en plein air painting and studio work, Grixti captures the essence of his surroundings, from the deciduous forests of Poland, to the sun-drenched landscapes of Malta. The exhibition comprises three parts: landscapes from Poznań, the Maltese countryside, and abstract interpretations that break away from realism. Inspired by artists like David Hockney and Brian Ruttenberg, Grixti’s work transcends the physical to evoke deep emotion and reflective thought. Jestem is not only a declaration of presence but a testament to Grixti’s growth as an ever-evolving artist.
