GREEN CITY : FROM FLORIANA TO MDINA

This exhibition of a series of 2023 paintings by Danish and Maltese artist, sculptor and architect Rune Bo Jakobsen (b. 1975) was inspired by townscapes from Floriana to Mdina. ‘Green City’ focuses on the environmental issues we are facing in our ever expanding urban landscapes. Squinting one’s eyes seeking hope and potential, the en plein air paintings portray spaces with emotion, capturing dappled light and reimagining a soft regenerative ambience. A dreamy space that could be, future or past. Whilst the paintings are attractive art works in their own right, there is also an important message that is being address in a subliminal way: We can choose to make Malta green.
